After I made the cowboy butter the other day to go with the tomahawk steak we had for lunch, we still had A LOT of steak leftover. Two people cannot eat 2 kilos of steak. It's just not physically possible for us. Anyway, with the leftover steak, I decided to use it in a salad and turn the cowboy butter into a creamy salad dressing. Yum! And it's super easy.
Here's the recipe:
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup cowboy butter (softened)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (or vinegar)
- 1-2 tablespoons cream (to thin it out)
- Use milk if you want it to be creamy but thinner and less rich
- Use water if you do not want it creamy at all
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- Optional: additional herbs or spices (like parsley, dill, or red pepper flakes)
Instructions
- Mix Ingredients: In a small bowl, combine the softened cowboy butter and lemon juice.
- Thin It Out: Gradually add cream, milk, or water, whisking until you reach your desired consistency. Adjust based on how thick or thin you like your dressing.
- Season: Add salt, pepper, and any optional herbs or spices to taste. Mix well.
- Serve: Drizzle over your steak salad and toss to combine.
I hope you enjoy this. We loved it and it went great in our steak salad.
